I’ll never settle for less again!

Standard

I have received more satisfaction from Andy in two nights than I got from SfB in 20 years.  His whole goal both nights was to make sure I was satisfied.  Oh did he ever!!!  SfB was lucky if he lasted a whole two minutes!!  With Andy it was extremely passionate and nothing short of amazing!!  Even the sex I had with Mr Upstairs was nothing compared to the way Andy made me feel.  I’ll never settle for “Mr You’ll Do” again.

Andy is only going to be here for three weeks and then he’ll move on to his next job.  I’ll be heartbroken when he’s gone but at the same time grateful and happy he was here.

I can’t wait for tonight and the whole weekend!!!

well that didn’t turn out the way I planned…

Before I wrote the last post I put an ad on craigslist for women seeking men.  By the time I was finished writing that post I had four emails.  One of them was really interesting so I emailed back and we met for lunch at Old Chicago.  So we had a nice long lunch and then he followed me to my house and we went to a local sports bar.  We ended up spending the afternoon shooting pool.  It’s been *years* since I shot pool.  I used to be pretty good but mostly suck at it now.  Anyway, we got a little better acquainted and then we wen to his hotel.  He’s not from here  and is only here doing a job and then he’ll be gone but I’m pretty sure we’ll be having a very lovely time while he’s here.

Needless to say I did no moving today and didn’t even get laundry done today.  I’ll have to do laundry tomorrow after work.

I met him at 12:30 for lunch and got home at 8:30.

The no pack move!

I finally got the key to the 2 bedroom apartment yesterday.  I suppose i should explain a few things first.  I live in an old school building.  It’s three floors and has 19 one or two bedroom apartments.  The building is a T shape and all the one bedroom apartments are in the leg of the T.  The two bedroom apartments are all across the top of the T and the main halls run across the back of the top of the T  At each end of each floor there are large stairways.  They’re large enough for a staircase going up and down side by side and there are huge landings on each floor with another landing between floors.  There are 3 huge windows on each landing with a smaller window over the stairs.  The landing between has two smaller high windows on the south and a good size window on the west.  All in all I think there are 10 windows of various sizes between the 4 landings. There’s a landing on 2, then one between 2 & 3, another large landing on 3, and then another small landing above the 3rd floor.  Lots of windows and they get massive sun.  When they remodeled the building in the middle 90’s they replaced most of the windows but they use plain glass windows instead of low-E glass so the sun is full spectrum.  The plants love it.  I have a “money tree” schefflera that is 8 foot tall.  I’m going to have to put a bag over the pot and tip it on its side to move it.  I will gradually be turning the landings and my end of the hall into jungles.  I rescued an unloved variegated schefflera from my second job yesterday.

Here’s a link to a pic.  The stairway that is mine is the one where the doorway is on the end of the building in the main pic.    http://www.metroplains.com/portfolio/view/id:143  Yeah, I know you can figure out where I live from the pic but so what.  I’m not paranoid about people knowing where I live.

I don’t have to pack anything because the building has 5 shopping carts.  I can literally take things out of the cupboards and closets and put it in a shopping cart and push it down the hall and put it away.  It’ll take longer to do but will be less work overall.  The hall is also carpeted so I can put big things on sliders and just push them down the hall.

I went out to storage yesterday and got a couple of things that were in the front that I know I want in the apartment.  I have a lawnmower I’ve been trying to sell all summer and I finally dropped the price enough that somebody is going to buy it today.  It’ll help to have some stuff out of the way so I can get to the mower and then after the mower is gone I’ll be able to get to the small tables and benches I need for plants out in the hall.  I think there are at least 3 if not 4 tables I can use for plants plus there’s another wire baker’s rack that can go in one of the windows.  Oh, and there’s a big giant pot out there I need for the plant that’s 8 feet tall.

I’m hoping that I can take enough out of this storage either by moving it to my apartment or selling it that I’ll make enough room that I can go get everything out of the storage in Liberal.  I couldn’t take everything with me when I moved the first time last year so I put a bunch of furniture in storage before I left.  Now that I know what all I need and have room for and SfB is still unemployed and mooching off somebody else and living in an RV so he’s not going to need it either so I’ll sell most of what I have down there.  Wanna buy some furniture?  I know there are bookcases and dressers and such in that storage.

I guess I need to hunt up a flash drive so I can move some pics from the desktop computer to the laptop so I can show off my plants.  I know I have 3 or 4 flash drives around here some where.

After I sell the mower today I’ll take the money and go get drapes for the bedroom.  Full 84 inch length drapes will come to the window sill.  I had to order a 120 inch tension rod to be able to put up the drapes.  The two bedroom windows measure 110 inches from the wall to the wall on the other side.  There is a little bit of woodwork right around the windows but it’s never had anything put up there and I don’t want to be the one that puts holes in it so I’ll pay $50 bucks for a damn tension rod.  It’ll be a pain in the ass to get it up there too.  The living room and the sewing room will just have the mini blinds.  At least they’re the aluminum ones and not the plastic ones.  I wouldn’t mind pretty sheers or something like that but it’s such a pain in the ass to put them up I probably won’t do it.

I am really looking forward to having the space and places to put shit away so I don’t have to live in a cluttered up mess anymore.  Getting the sewing room out of my bedroom is going to be fabulous.  There’s way more crap that goes in the sewing room so it’ll be the larger of the two bedrooms.

Time to get moving.

an interesting year…

Standard

It’s been almost a year since I started my job.  A year ago I had just lost a husband, a house and a supposed “bff.”

I suppose overall I’m most sad about the house.  It really was an extra nice house and everything fit in it.  I am waiting for the building manager to get a 2 bedroom apartment just down the hall painted so I can get moved over there.  My New Year’s resolution was to not move for a full year.  At the rate she’s getting it done it could be a full year since I moved in before I get moved over there since that date is the 15th of November.  I suppose I could count that as my year.  <sigh>  I really and truly do hate moving.  It’s such a pain in the ass.  At least this time there will be little to no packing done.  The hall is carpeted so I can just shove things down the hall on sliders and the majority of the smaller shit can go in shopping carts.  There are 5 in the building so I’ll just round up a couple of friends and their kids and we’ll do a brigade down the hall.

The deadline for filing my divorce so it’s final by the end of the year is approaching.  I’m pretty sure I can do the paper work and file it myself.  It’s just _doing_ the actual paperwork.  It’ll take at least two hours for me to get all the paper work ready and then I have to have it all notarized.  My boss can notarize for me so at least I don’t have to pay for that.

I actually saw SfB a couple of weeks ago.  He still had the keys to the car.  He can’t even pay for the gas for it so it has to be sold.  He lived in it last winter and it was still full of stuff.  I had a letter I got in the mail from his former employer saying they had a check he hadn’t cashed.  He had to send the letter back, notarized to get a new check sent to him.  I told the guy he’s staying with about the check and to tell SfB he could have it when the car got cleaned out and parked over here.  It took him about a week and a half after that but he eventually showed up with the car.  OMG was it ever disgusting inside!!  I had to have it detailed or there wouldn’t be any way in hell I would have been able to sell it.  Hopefully I can get it sold before too long.

The guy that detailed it for me sort of works for the place I work for once in awhile.  He does maintenance types of things sometimes.  He also brings food to our food days.  I didn’t even ask him how much, I gave him an envelope with $100 cash and the key and where it was parked.  He called me later that day and said he could’t clean it and I should come see why.  He lives right behind our building so I ran over there and it was *spotless* on the inside and the stench was gone.  It looks as good as it did the day we bought it if not better.  When he came back later to give me the key back I gave him another $20.  I don’t really want to know how much he’d charge somebody else to clean a car that dirty.  It really was nasty.

About the ex BFF, Hippie Peace Freaks (a facebook group) posted a pic this morning that said “Create a life that feels good on the inside.  Not one that just looks good on the outside.”  It made me think of her kitchen which is really an extension of her personality.  The counter is always spotless.  Always.  Open any cupboard or the fridge and it’s a disgusting wreck.  Her fridge was really nasty.  I know there were containers in there when I moved in with them that were still in there when I moved out 2 months later.  But then it occurred to me that SfB and I had cleaned out her fridge and pantry once before after she had kicked out her first husband.  Her fridge was even nastier that time.  I wasn’t going to do it for her again.    Other than that I don’t even think of her much and I don’t miss her either.  <shrug>  I think I was more of a best friend to her than she was to me anyway and the habits she picked up from living with her hubby were extremely irritating anyway.  I really hate backseat drivers and she had turned into one of the worst about it.  The most irritating part about that is she has never driven even 10 feet in her entire life.

My supervisor called me crazy friday.  I was telling the lady that runs the front of the office about having to give my neighbor a ride on my lunch hour and how slow he was about getting around and him saying “I fixed that roast, we’ll have supper.” just as he got out of the car and shut the door and how he’s going to drive me crazy and my super says “But you’re already crazy!”  Damn, I didn’t know it showed that much.  I didn’t eat supper with him either.  I went and had a hot roast beef sandwich at a local sandwich/fountain place with one of my coworkers. They make one of the best hrb sandwiches in town if not the best.
